Timber Stop Log Panel
This Stop Log Panel is for a customer that is isolating a chemical sump in a large refinery. There are 2 panels and they will be dropped into channels where the back pressure (so to speak) will press the downstream edges of the panels against the concrete/steel edges. The Nitrile Rubber seals will reduce leakage. The Timbers have hardwood splines between the timbers, which under “moisture” will expand and will not leak. The lifting is from Crosby eye-hooks. The panel size is 8″ thick x 19′ tall x 10′ wide. This was an interesting project because the rubber had to be a good quality to prevent it from deteriorating in a harsh environment.
This is a Cant Strip that has embedded Nitrile Rubber, it will be fastened onto the panel edges and bottoms after it is installed. The sole purpose is to reduce leakage.
Panel is slid down into the channels with a crane
looking down into the sump…nasty stuff in there! Notice the 1/2″ thick steel ballast plates, applied to the downstream side, to compensate for buoyancy issues.
Customer required access for workers in this chemical sump, with lots of aromatic hydro-carbons. Access requires supplied air.
Here you can see the special Cant Strips that we manufactured complete with Nitrile seals that are applied to the downstream side of the panel, filled with sealant foam. Customer achieved a no-leak installation
